EstiMate for builders

Quoting and job management software built by a builder, for builders

Extensions, lofts, refurbs and new builds live or die on the quote: what's in, what's out, what happens when the client changes their mind. EstiMate was written by a Cheshire builder who got tired of Excel, Word and a WhatsApp thread being the 'system'. It prices the job properly, sends a quote the client can accept on their phone, turns it into a contract and a programme, and keeps the money straight through to the final account.

  • Single and double-storey extensions
  • Loft conversions and dormers
  • Full house refurbishments
  • Garage conversions
  • Structural openings and steelwork
  • New-build and self-build packages
What a good builder's quote needs

Priced properly, explained clearly, paid on time

A scope the client can't misread

Extension quotes go wrong at the edges — who supplies the kitchen, whether decorating is in, what 'make good' means. EstiMate gives every quote an intro, a scope of works with inclusions and exclusions, and itemised material and labour sections so nothing is assumed.

Staged payments that match the build

Deposit, footings, wall plate, watertight, first fix, completion. Milestones are set as percentages on the quote, tracked as the job runs and chased automatically when they fall overdue.

Variations without re-signing everything

The client wants bi-folds instead of French doors. Price the additional works from site, send a one-tap approval link, and the contract total and invoices update themselves — with a full audit trail.

Real costs against the estimate

Log receipts, supplier invoices and hours as you go. Cost control shows estimate versus actual while there's still time to protect the margin, not six months later at the accountant.

Where builders lose money on quotes

  • Quoting labour as one lump sum, then arguing about what it covered
  • Forgetting prelims: skip hire, scaffold, welfare, waste, temporary works
  • No written variation process — the extras never get paid for
  • Deposit taken, but no contract signed
  • Margin applied to labour only, or forgotten under time pressure

Questions builders ask

Can EstiMate handle a full extension quote with materials and labour?

Yes. Materials are grouped into categories (foundations, masonry, roofing, first fix…) with quantities, units and unit prices; labour is priced as trade packages with the days × rate shown. Markup and margin are applied automatically before VAT.

Does it produce a building contract?

Yes. A build contract is generated from the accepted quote with your payment terms, delays, responsibilities and guarantee wording, and the client signs it online. Variations are added as signed addenda.

Can I use it on site?

Yes — there's an iPhone app and the web app works on any phone. Take site photos, record a walk-round voice note, log receipts and send the quote from the van.

What does it cost for a small building firm?

Free for up to 3 jobs a month, £15.99 a month for unlimited jobs with contracts and payments, £39.99 a month for Pro with the AI quote writer, take-off and Construction Copilot. No contract; cancel any time.
