Jobber alternative for UK builders: EstiMate vs Jobber (2026)

Jobber is one of the most complete field service apps you can buy. If you run a cleaning round, a landscaping crew or a heating and plumbing service business, it's worth a trial. If you build extensions, convert lofts or fit out offices in the UK, you're likely to hit gaps that cost money: we couldn't find CIS, the domestic reverse charge, change orders or a proper building contract in Jobber's help centre (October 2026).

The short answer. Pick Jobber if your work is lots of short visits, scheduling is your daily headache and you're happy with a price list in US dollars. Pick EstiMate if you price and run projects, work in or around CIS, and want the quote, contract, variations, invoices and accounts in one app at a flat price per business, in pounds.

What Jobber is good at

Jobber is a Canadian company (Techcouver) selling field service software to what it calls home and commercial service businesses. It covers quoting, scheduling, invoicing, payments, a client portal and AI, and it says it passed 100,000 customers in May 2026 (PR Newswire). Its Plus plan page says it's available in the US, Canada and the UK (Jobber Plus).

The polish shows in the details:

  • Clients approve quotes, request changes and pay deposits in Jobber's Client Hub (Jobber help).
  • Quotes can carry optional line items. The client ticks the ones they want, the total updates, then they approve (Jobber help).
  • "Draft for me" writes a quote with AI, and voice mode in the app can create quotes too (Jobber help).
  • It integrates with QuickBooks Online and Xero, and the Xero link covers the UK on the Connect and Grow plans (Jobber help).

It also has the thing no new app can fake: a long track record of reviews. Jobber scores 4.6 out of 5 from about 1,487 reviews on Capterra (Capterra). So this isn't a post about Jobber being bad. It's about Jobber being built for a different kind of work.

Jobber prices in dollars. EstiMate prices in pounds.

Jobber's help centre says "Pricing plans are listed in USD", and its pricing page says plan prices exclude sales tax where applicable (Jobber help, Jobber pricing). We couldn't find a pound price anywhere on its website, or whether UK VAT is added, so we haven't converted anything. If you're billed in dollars, your bank's exchange rate on the day decides what leaves your account.

Plans are priced by team size in bands, and extra users are $29 a month each. Here's what the pricing page listed per month, billed annually:

Jobber plan1 user5 users10 users
Core$29Not listedNot listed
Connect$99$149$229
Grow$149$229$299
PlusNot listed$399$449

Prices checked October 2026, as listed on Jobber's pricing page and EstiMate's pricing page. Paying monthly with no commitment, Jobber Core is $49 a month. There's a 14-day free trial with Grow features and no card needed, and no free plan.

EstiMate is priced per business, in pounds, with no contract: Free at £0 with no time limit (three jobs a month), EstiMate at £15.99 a month and EstiMate Pro at £39.99 a month.

A worked example

This shows the shape of the bill, not a currency conversion. A five-person team on Jobber Grow, billed annually, is listed at $229 a month. That's $229 × 12 = $2,748 a year before any tax. Grow to ten people and it's $299 × 12 = $3,588. On EstiMate Pro the business pays £39.99 × 12 = £479.88 a year (EstiMate's prices are what you pay), whether you've got two people on site or twelve.

The honest caveat: that's not seat for seat. Pro is one office login, and your crew log time, expenses, photos and diary entries through the Site Crew app, joining a job by QR code or link rather than with a full account. If you need separate office logins with roles, that's EstiMate Corp, from £249 a month, and for a small office team Jobber's bands may well work out cheaper. A common complaint in G2 and Capterra reviews of Jobber is that the cost climbs as the team grows, with the jump from Core to Connect a sore point (G2, Capterra).

Where a UK builder hits the edges

These are the gaps that show up on a real building job. "Not found" means we searched Jobber's help centre and feature pages in October 2026 and found nothing. Ask Jobber if it matters to you.

Variations are the big one

On Jobber, editing a quote the client has already approved removes their signature, and the suggested route is "Create Similar Quote". Users have asked for proper change orders in Jobber's community forum, and we couldn't find any sign the feature has shipped (October 2026) (Jobber community).

On a one-day job, that's fine. On a single-storey extension where the client adds a roof lantern in week three and moves a doorway in week five, you want each change priced, approved in writing and added to the contract total before you do the work. In EstiMate you price the variation on site, the client approves it from a link, and the contract total, invoices and reports update with an audit trail. Our guide to pricing extras and getting paid explains why that order matters.

CIS and the reverse charge

Jobber lets you set up tax rates (Jobber help), but we couldn't find anything on CIS or the domestic reverse charge in its help centre or on its Xero and QuickBooks integration pages. For a main contractor paying subbies, or a subbie invoicing a main contractor, those aren't optional. EstiMate's reverse-charge invoices carry the required wording, and CIS deductions go into a register in the Accounts tab, ready for whoever files your return. If either is new to you, start with our CIS guide for 2026.

Contracts

Jobber's quote has a contract or disclaimer field, and the client signs when they approve (Jobber help). We didn't find a dedicated building-contract builder. EstiMate turns the accepted quote into a contract covering payment terms, delays, responsibilities, insurance, guarantee and dispute wording, which the client signs online. Variations then become signed addenda. More on our contract software page.

Who Jobber suits better

Jobber is the stronger pick if:

  • your work is lots of short, repeat visits, such as servicing, cleaning or garden maintenance;
  • you want a mature client portal and an AI receptionist, which costs $29 a month for 30 conversations and is unlimited on Plus (Jobber help);
  • you already run your books in QuickBooks Online or Xero and want a direct integration;
  • CIS, the reverse charge and staged building contracts aren't part of your week.

EstiMate suits builders and contractors who quote, contract, run and account for projects: extensions, loft conversions, bathroom refits, office fit-outs. It's in pounds, priced per business, and built in the UK by a builder, with UK VAT, reverse charge and CIS figures in the app (it prepares them; it doesn't file to HMRC). It runs in the browser on any device, Android included, and as an iPhone app.

How to switch from Jobber

  1. Open a free EstiMate account. No card and no time limit; you get three jobs a month.
  2. Export your client list from Jobber (check Jobber's help centre for the current steps) and bring your customers across.
  3. Price your next real job in EstiMate while Jobber's still running. On Pro, which has a free trial when you upgrade, the AI quote writer drafts scope, materials and labour from a description, photos or a walk-round voice note, and you edit everything before it goes.
  4. Send the quote link, turn the accepted quote into a contract and run the job through to the final invoice.
  5. Once you're happy, cancel Jobber. If you're on annual billing, check your renewal date first.

If you're weighing up a bigger team, our breakdown of per-user pricing runs the numbers across several apps.
