Invoice Simple pricing in the UK, and when it stops being enough
Invoice Simple lists three plans on its pricing page: Essentials at US$6.99 a month, Plus at US$14.99 and Premium at US$21.99. The two cheaper plans cap how many invoices you can send each month. Estimates are unlimited on all three.
That's the whole answer if you're a freelancer. If you're a builder, the more useful question is how many invoices your jobs really generate, because stage payments eat an invoice cap faster than you'd think. And there's a second question after that: what we couldn't find on any plan, at any price.
The three plans
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Invoice limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essentials | US$6.99 | US$69.99 | 3 a month |
| Plus | US$14.99 | US$149.99 | 10 a month |
| Premium | US$21.99 | US$219.99 | Unlimited |
Prices checked October 2026 on Invoice Simple's pricing page. The page shows US dollars and says prices "may vary by local currency". We couldn't confirm the UK price in pounds, or whether VAT is included, so check the price in the App Store on your phone before you subscribe.
Monthly or annual: the sums
Paying a year up front saves money on every plan:
- Essentials: US$6.99 × 12 = $83.88 paid monthly, against $69.99 paid annually. You save $13.89.
- Plus: US$14.99 × 12 = $179.88, against $149.99. You save $29.89.
- Premium: US$21.99 × 12 = $263.88, against $219.99. You save $43.89.
The catch with paying annually for any app is that you're committed if your needs change in month three. Reviewers on Trustpilot raise cancelling and billing after cancelling as recurring complaints with Invoice Simple (Trustpilot), so read the renewal terms before you pay.
What each plan adds
- Essentials: unlimited estimates, up to three invoices a month and online card payments (Essentials).
- Plus: up to ten invoices a month, your business signature on documents and summary reports (Plus).
- Premium: unlimited invoices and client signatures on estimates (Premium).
Every plan takes card payments and you can pass the fee on to your client. Invoice Simple's UK fee schedule shows 2.90% + £0.30 per card payment, though the schedule we found is dated January 2024 (fee schedule). On an illustrative £1,200 invoice that's £34.80 + £0.30 = £35.10.
The trial, and the free bit
The free trial is 14 days with full Premium access, but only in the mobile app (trial help). On the web app, Invoice Simple says you get two free invoices before you have to choose a plan (Invoice Simple). We couldn't get a clear answer from Invoice Simple's own pages on whether a permanent free plan exists, so check with them.
Prices went up in 2026
A price tracker, PricingSaaS, reported that around late June 2026 Plus went from $13.49 to $14.99 a month and Premium from $19.99 to $21.99 (PricingSaaS). That's a secondary source, but it lines up with recurring Trustpilot complaints about price rises, invoice caps and existing plans losing features at the same price. Prices rise everywhere; just budget for it.
Count your invoices, not your jobs
Here's where builders get caught. A one-visit repair is one invoice. A building job is several. Take an illustrative loft conversion: a deposit, three stage payments (structure, first fix, plastered), a final, and one variation invoice when the client adds a Velux. That's six invoices for one job.
| Invoices you send a month | Plan you'd need | Billed annually |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 3 | Essentials | US$69.99 a year |
| 4 to 10 | Plus | US$149.99 a year |
| 11 or more | Premium | US$219.99 a year |
Have three or four jobs like that running at once and the stage invoices overlap. It doesn't take much for a month to hit eleven, which puts you on Premium. Our guide to stage payments and deposits explains why more, smaller stage invoices protect your cash flow, which is exactly what a monthly cap punishes.
What we couldn't find on any plan
This is the real point where Invoice Simple stops being enough for a builder. Moving up a tier gives you more invoices and more signatures. As far as we could find in October 2026, it doesn't give you any of this:
- A binding contract. Invoice Simple's help centre says the client signature "is intended for presentation purposes only and should not be considered a legally binding contract" (help centre).
- CIS deductions or reverse-charge wording. We couldn't find either on its site in October 2026.
- UK bookkeeping. Its Bookkeeping add-on is for US and Canadian users only (Bookkeeping).
- Variations, take-off from drawings, or site records. We couldn't find any of them.
What the same money buys in EstiMate
EstiMate is £15.99 a month (£191.88 over a year), priced per business, not per invoice. That's in pounds, and the prices on our pricing page are what you pay, with a VAT receipt for every payment. For that you get unlimited jobs, branded PDFs, a quote link where the client can accept, decline, pick optional extras or request amendments, contracts with e-signatures, payment milestones, client invoices with card payments through Stripe and automatic chasing, variations, RAMS and COSHH, and an Accounts tab with P&L, VAT figures and a CIS register. It doesn't file to HMRC; it prepares the figures for you or your accountant.
There's also a free plan with no time limit: three jobs a month, watermarked PDFs and the trade calculators. If you want AI take-off from drawings, deposits taken online when the client accepts, retention and valuations, that's EstiMate Pro at £39.99 a month.
We can't do a straight pound-for-dollar comparison, because we couldn't confirm Invoice Simple's UK price. What we can say is that Invoice Simple says its client signature isn't a binding contract, we couldn't find CIS on any of its plans, and its bookkeeping add-on is US and Canada only. EstiMate's £15.99 plan includes a contract, a CIS register and UK accounts figures.
Who should stay on Invoice Simple
If you're a freelancer, a cleaner or a one-visit handyman sending a few invoices a month, Essentials or Plus is cheap and does the job. It's popular, too: it scored 4.8 out of 5 from about 29,000 ratings on the UK App Store in an older snapshot (App Store). There's a fuller comparison in our Invoice Simple alternative post, and if you want free, our look at Zoho Invoice covers a genuinely free option.
